have been to karaoke in Japan loadsa times and this place really lets the Japanese style Karaoke down where service and prices are way better!!venue and rooms are very dark and hot inside. Air con was dripping. Booked for sunday arvo and the man was half an hour late. (Got a round of soft drinks free)We were waiting outside in the rain with another group that had booked. Its a shame it wasn't worth the wait. The rooms are small and dingy looking. Its a bit of a dive but we had fun as we were in good company. It was cheaper then others but I will not go back.I would not recommend it-better off getting a cheap karaoke set from argos and having mates round.Choice of songs was good, system was ok but timing seemed out on songs.NEEDS A GOOD LICK OF PAINT, NEW SEATING OR AT LEAST RECUSHIONING AND SOME ENERGY IN ITS STAFF ...go somewhere else please!!
absolutely the best fun you can have in London! me and my girls regularly book ourselves a room, which is really easy to do (if i can do it anyone can!), and get ourselves down there to tear it up on a friday night. the staff are lovely, and will happily bring drinks to your room all night, which definitely helps the singing to get going (at least in my ears it does!). a perfect way to either kick off or end a night, especially if you've got a big group together.
I called to book a slot for a date a month away and was told to book on-line. When I attempted to do this the system crashed and I had to re-submit the details. I then get a call, a few hours later, from the manager asking why I had not shown up for my booking!!! I was then told that my booking was process for the same day and not for my birthday a month away as requested!! The manager refused to change the booking and charged me the full price for a missed session!!! He appears to enjoy the sound of his own voice and skirts around issues without actually answering any questions – as per other reviews – VERY BAD CUSTOMER SERVICE – DO NOT BOTHER.
Please don't go to Karaoke Box! It's really terrible! We actually wanted to go elsewhere but couldn't get any availability and this was the only place with rooms available at such short notice. Now I know why. The room was hot and horribly stuffy, the machine broke down twice and the cocktails at Karaoke Box didn't taste very strong either.
Last night I gatecrashed (with permision) a night at Karaoke Box with the ladies of a well known fashion magazine. All I can say is: fantastic bloody night. The staff were really friendly (even putting up with some serious dancing-on-the-sofa action and spilt wine on the floor). There were loads of fun songs, drinks were brought to the room really quickly and the rooms were air conditioned (essential at a Karaoke venue). I can assure others will have a fun time.
It's not super glitzy (but then if you are after Lost in Translation style karaoke, then expect to pay the 400 pounds an evening prices that users in Japan are used to!).
You'll have lots of fun here - it's reasonable on cost, and you'll leave with a smile as all our group did. Well done Karaoke Box!
I totally agree with the review below - Karaoke Box Dai Chan ia a real karaoke experience for real people. I've always found the staff really helpful, maybe the other comments below are more to do with the customer's attitude rather than the Karaokoe Box Dai Chan staff.
Karaoke Box Dai Chan is an excellent fun night out for a few mates or even just a couple of you. Hiring the rooms is very reasonable and whilst it is not as pleasing on the eye as rivals like Lucky Voice it has a certain charm in its down-at-heel appearance.
Certainly you'll feel much better getting a bit tipsy and raucous here than elsewhere. They have nice, friendly staff who don't rush you out in the middle of your final big number also help the evening along. Karaoke Box Dai Chan is really good fun.
Karaoke Box Dai Chan is London's best-kept secret, possibly because the storefront sign is in Japanese only. Although it's a fantastic, unique end to any evening, it's an evening in itself - just you and your friends in your own room, lots of drink and countless songs to choose from on the touch-screen system.
The staff are great (real people - not the servile lackies some reviewers here would evidently prefer) and are always there when you want them. I've been before, and I'll be going there again. What's not to love? Long live the Karaoke Box Dai Chan.
