Went to the Egg last Saturday and what an appaulling night, The doormen haven't got a clue. I was in a group of four and they let half of us in and wouldn't let the other half in for no reason at all, when I asked them for a reason they just said because they don't want to let them in. We were a mixed group, well behaved and all well dressed. Half of the group including me went in to the place anyhow as the others decided to go home.

What a mistake! The whole club was full of people with bad attitudes, no atmosphere, bad music, a big change from when I had visited there before. the place seems to have really gone down hill, I have been to a lot of clubs and rarely had such a bad experience! Like previous reviews the music was pretty much the same throughout the club.

I would definitely stay away from this place now, I don't know whether its the change of security or a new crowd of people coming here now, but a shame as it use to be a good night out. The management really need to sort things out or I can see this place getting even worse with time.A lot more enjoyable and trouble free nights to be had at other clubs in London take my word for it.

We visited egg for a night out, we had pre bought tickets yet we still had to queue for 2.5 hours. When we got in we were not allowed to go into the main club till 2.30 due to them overselling the night, upstairs was locked off most of the time, they started doing one in one out at 4 ish, but the queue was massive. A couple of guys ahead asked one of the management what was the problem, if the night had been oversold. They said the venue was no where near capacity!
Terrible place, don't go. bad layout and the dj's in the bar are we were locked in could not even mix?

we visited Egg for my girlfriends 21st.
music sounded the same in every room, just slightly faster or slower. boring, boring, boring. beats were no where near hard enough for my liking. the drops were pathetic. DJ had scratched records as i heard the music jump more than once! not what i consider professional at all.
people were largely foreign with lots of eastern european and arab blokes leering at the girls, charming. plenty of arab looking blokes standing on the stairs offering certain things to passers by. would dissuade from doing business with them. people were mostly 'trendy' types with thick rimmed glasses and suit jackets, yuk. all up on china and looking bait. generally very little atmosphere as people didnt get dancing til 3am.
good thing was the free minibus from kings cross to the club and back again, the driver was safe and very pleasant.
the garden was nice but on a November evening when it is pissing it down and the garden is only half covered it was not too great.
in conclusion i would not be going back to Egg as it was not my thing at all. far too posey for my liking, full of leery foreign blokes and rubbish tunes. dont waste your money!

I went here for the first time on Friday night and had a decent time. It's not mouth-wateringly good but it's a fun place to go with a few mates. I didn't have any problem with the staff there but then again I try to avoid putting myself in trouble. But it's true, they do take your chewing gum away (spose you can hide stuff in it...).

The crowd are fairly chilled out and for an afterhours, the drinks were fairly cheap. Red Stripe was less than 3 quid i think.

Like someone else said, the trance room was the best outta the 3.

My favourite part of the club is the outdoor space. It's perfect for the smokers and though it sounds weird in light of the first bit of this sentence, it's a welcome breath of fresh air because it can get quite stuffy inside.

I also thought it was fairly nifty they had a free cab service from just outside Kings Cross station to the club.

There's a discount for students which made it even more worthwhile, even though we arrived well past midnight. There was no lineup when we arrived and we all had a good night. Apparently there was a 12 hour set on the night we went but we pushed off by about 7.

First of all, never pre-book any tickets to go! We had bought tickets online - which we were lead to believe were queue jumping tickets - but they are not! When we arrived, we went straight to the front of the queue, where we were told to line up against the wall, next to the ordinary queue. The person that was queuing next to me in the 'ordinary' line was in the club at least a good 15 minutes before we even got to the front of our queue. Secondly, the staff. I don't know if they could even pay them to be even more unfriendly and unhelpful than how they were last night. They even confiscate chewing gum!!! The only room in the club that had any athmosphere was the trance room upstairs, anywhere else I would say don't bother. I would say that it is a definitely student club - you couldn't swing a cat for hitting one, definitely felt like I had turned up to a party beng told it was fancy dress and it was white tie only! I think that if I was five years younger and got sooo drunk that I had no idea of who I was and where I was it would be a good night to be had by all.

Worst place I have ever been to. The door staff are the rudest people I have encountered, and having been a regular clubber for way too much time, that is saying something. The main bouncer turned my friend away for no reason at all. On asking for a reason he just said very arrogantly that it was his decision whether to let people in or not, and that was it. Staff inside were rude as well and clearly weren't interested in being pleasant. It may be a decent place, but with such arrogant staff it doesn't seem worth it to subject yourself to the way they treat you.

Ignore the bad comments don't let them sway your mind, this place rocks. The music is great plus they have 3 floors so if you prefer music in another room at least you have some choice. I have been here loads of times with different groups of people and always love it and anyone I take who hasn't been before have also loved it.

Granted certain influences may make the night better but you could say that about any club.

From the outside it looks kinda grimey but it's not inside and the people are all so cool, such a variety of styles so it doesn't matter what you're into you'll fit in.

I can't say I've had any problems with staff, except for one bird wearing a dead animal around her shoulders as if she were high class..scum.

Definitely worth a go, can't say it's bad if you don't give it a chance!!

The metal detectors in the entry to this club were probably a good idea but it does go some way to showing what kind of place this is. They also served a dual function as they must have sucked my soul out. I have rarely been to such a dull and unpleasant night. I'm a huge fan of decent electronic dance music but the shit they turned out left me for dead. Imagine being subjected to magnolia-coloured techno that just doesn't go anywhere, DJed by guys who just don't seem to give a fuck about the atmosphere. They had some nice ceiling visuals but you can't put fairy lights in a turd and expect a festive yule log.

The security and bar staff were unfriendly, there was no cohesive ethos or shared enjoyment and to be honest, most people seemed as though they were pretending they were having a good time to make up for the fact that they'd paid £15 to get in and extortionate money for drinks. Those who looked as though they may have been on pills looked like they were having a better time but you couldn't escape the fact that they were dancing to music at half volume and with the bass significantly reduced. They would have danced around a radio.

Overall, this place was dire and I will never go back. I was even shouted at for trying to leave. Don't waste your life in Egg. Go somewhere fun.

I've never been so can't corroborate the review, but would just like to show my appreciation for the first paragraph, especially the last sentence =) - Report
